Kindergarten Project in Bamako, Mali

Our first and current major project is to provide and staff a kindergarten facility in Bamako, Mali. The kindergarten program will house a classroom and playground for up to 25 children, most of whom will be from poor families. In Mali only about 1 in 10 children get any kind of structured pre-school education which puts them at great disadvantage later on in life. See Africa Grow’s goal for this project is to team up with the CRIF women’s organization in Bamako to develop this kindergarten by providing funding for building renovation, furnishing, playground equipment, supplies, daily meals, and staff salaries.

The work to be done to the current structure includes the following:

  • Clearing of brush
  • Roofing
  • Plastering of walls
  • Plumbing
  • Toilets
  • Water tank reservoir
  • Flooring
  • Windows
  • Partitioning of space
  • Painting
  • Furniture – desks, chairs, chalkboards, tables, etc.
